Golden School of T'ai Chi Ch'uan

CLASSES

My Approach

T'ai Chi Ch'uan is generally taught with as many as ten or twenty students following a teacher’s movements throughout the Form. From my perspective one of the drawbacks of this approach is the limited time the teacher has to make individual corrections. The student is then left to follow the teacher's movements to the best of his or her own ability. T'ai Chi Ch'uan is a very precise system of movement directly dependent on your ability to internalize the principles of T'ai Chi in your own body. The quality of the corrections you receive is directly related to how long it takes you to learn the movements and how deeply the information will be absorbed by your body.

By offering affordable private and small group classes, I can focus my attention on enabling you to move at your own pace and in your own direction. We will tailor a course to your specific goals. These can include but are not limited to self defense skills, healing the body, stress reduction, improving health and longevity, increasing the body's resistance to disease, better balance, increased personal power, generating a state of impenetrable calm, achieving meditation in movement, becoming more spontaneous so as to better be in the moment and achieving a deeper spiritual awareness and connection. That is a lot, so it is up to the teacher to understand and help direct each student on their path.

Classes

I teach the Yang Style T'ai Chi Form, self defense applications of T'ai Chi Ch'uan (san shou), Push Hands (tui shou) and T'ai Chi Sword Form. I am happy to work with beginner, intermediate and advanced students.

Group classes in T'ai Chi Ch'uan Form and Push Hands are held at 115 Unity Street, Suite 301 in Bellingham and one on one classes are held in my home studio or outside, overlooking the islands of the majestic Salish Sea on Puget Sound.

There are a variety of options for classes from group classes to individual private lessons. I also offer sliding scale pricing for those in need of it. This helps keep the benefit of private instruction accessible to all.  I can also go to a student's location for a travel consideration. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

There is a saying that there are as many different ways to practice T'ai Chi as there are people practicing it. I feel that no two people practice T'ai Chi in the same way and encourage each of my students to find his or her own T'ai Chi.
